La Bastide Rose

France,Provence - 9 BR, 9.5 Baths | type:AEV

La Bastide Rose is a picture perfect retreat in the middle of Provence. Located just outside the village of Le Thor and the charming village of Isle sur la Sorgue, known for its antiques and market place, this is the perfect location for visiting all the quaint and beautiful towns in Provence. La Bastide Rose is not an individual villa or a hotel, but a home for friends, a charming inn where everyone feels free to do as one pleases, either mingle with the other guests or enjoy the quiet retreat. It is the perfect French B&B.

General Description of La Bastide Rose

The owner Nicole Poppy Salinger and her son, Emmanuel de Menthon, are proud to greet their guests as personal friends. Bastide Rose is perfectly situated, at the entrance to the Luberon, on the outskirts of the village of Thor, and only 20 minutes from Avignon and the Avignon-TGV station (fast train from Paris) and close to the picturesque town of l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Nestled in a small corner of the Sorgue river, surrounded by the fields of the beloved Provence countryside, the house is next to a canal. Behind an old mill turned into a Pierre Salinger Museum (Poppy is the widow of former Presidential Press Secretary Pierre Salinger) is the swimming pool where one can relax in the sun or under the shade of the garden in quiet. Between the canal and the river is an island made for dreaming, planted with fruit trees, and at the end of this little paradise is a dam which is a delight for fly fishermen (river trouts!)
